“Football is Life” – Sporting’s Ronaldo Oliveira’s Passion and Journey for the Sport

One of Sporting’s newest signings, Ronaldo Oliveira, who joined the club in January for their I-League 2 campaign, made an immediate impact by scoring an impressive goal in the club’s second home match, securing the crucial victory. 

The 27-year old attacking player from Vasco who scored his first goal against TRAU (Tiddim Road Athletic Union), says “Scoring my first goal for Sporting Club de Goa was a special moment. More than that, it was important for the team to get the win. I’m confident that I can keep contributing with more goals, and I will give my best in every game to help the club achieve our goals this season,” 

With his eye for goal and ability to make a difference in the attacking third, Ronaldo will be a key player to watch.

Passion and Inspiration

Ronaldo Oliveira’s passion for football began at home. “I was inspired by my family, who always supported my dream,” he shares. Growing up, his idol was none other than the renowned Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, whose success and discipline motivated him to pursue football professionally. Today, he stands as one of the top goal scorers in the ongoing I-League 2 playing for one of Goa’s most popular football clubs–Sporting Clube de Goa.

Pressure and Preparation                                                                                                

Handling pressure is a skill Ronaldo has honed over time. He reveals, “I try to keep my mind calm and focused, especially when the game gets intense.” For Ronaldo, staying in top form requires more than just skill—it’s about physical and mental preparation. “Regular exercise and a healthy diet are crucial to keeping my body in shape. Maintaining a positive mindset is key to performing at my best,” he adds. It’s this discipline that has helped him maintain his focus in critical moments on the field.

Memorable Moments and Career Achievements

One of the most memorable moments of Ronaldo’s career was playing in the Kolkata Derby while representing East Bengal. “It was an unforgettable experience,” he reflects.

 His list of achievements speaks volumes about his versatility and skill. 

The dynamic forward, who is playing his third season with the club, has previously played two seasons in the I-League 2. Reflecting on his experience in the current season, he says, ‘It has helped me a lot to grow in my career,”

Ronaldo’s career boasts scoring multiple goals for Goa Professional League titles including the year 2018–19, where he scored 23 goals, becoming the top scorer and helping Salgaocar FC finish 4th. He has played for Dempo SC in the same, the Kerala League title with Kerala Blasters, and in two Bangalore Super League titles. 

He also won the Punjab League title with RoundGlass Punjab and has represented Goa in the Santosh Trophy three times scoring the only goal for Goa in one of those appearances.

Journey at Sporting Clube de Goa

In his first season with Sporting Clube de Goa, Ronaldo quickly adapted to his new team. “The bond with the players is growing stronger–They’ve been incredibly welcoming, which helped me settle in quickly,” he says. 

For Ronaldo, playing for the club is an honor, and he’s eager to contribute to its success. “It’s a privilege to play for this club and help bring it back to where it belongs,” he states with pride. As he continues his journey with Sporting, Ronaldo is determined to take the team to greater heights.

With regards to advice for aspiring footballers, Ronaldo says, “Hard work is the key to success, and one needs to be disciplined,” As for his long-term goals, Ronaldo shares, “For now, I’m focused on my playing career, but I plan to stay involved in football even after my playing term ends,”

With his dedication and passion, Ronaldo Oliveira is poised for continued success, both for Sporting Clube de Goa and in the football industry.
