Sporting Clube de Goa recently had the honor of hosting the AFC B Diploma Course at Don Bosco, Panjim, from November 1 to 9, 2024. This intensive course, led by expert instructors Shekhar Kerkar and Mariano Dias, provided aspiring coaches with in-depth training across theory and practical sessions, helping them sharpen the skills needed to make a lasting impact on the field. This initiative marks a continued commitment by Sporting Clube de Goa to support the next generation of coaches and strengthen the football ecosystem in Goa and across India.
This is our second major coaching program this season, following the success of the AFC Futsal Level 1 Course. According to CEO Welvin Menezes, Sporting Clube de Goa is fully invested in expanding these educational opportunities for coaches, with a goal of organizing several more programs throughout the season. “Our commitment to developing football talent goes beyond players,” says Menezes. “We want to empower coaches with the tools to advance the sport and inspire the next generation of talent.”
Menezes credited the support and encouragement of key figures within Sporting Clube de Goa, acknowledging the contributions of Technical Director Savio Medeira, who has been instrumental in guiding these initiatives, as well as Competitions Director Angelo Albuquerque, whose seamless coordination helped ensure the course ran smoothly. “We’re grateful to our President, Mrs. Natalina Vaz, and Director, Mr. Nathan Vaz, for entrusting us with the freedom and resources to pursue this vision,” he added.
Reflecting on the impact of the AFC B Diploma Course, Goan football icon Savio Medeira emphasized the importance of coaching education in player development. “This program provides coaches with the foundation to shape future players, benefiting the entire football community,” he noted.
