About The Club
The Beginning
Sporting Clube de Goa, also known as the Flaming Oranje, was founded in 1999 when Goa-based businessman Peter Vaz purchased and renamed the club Cidade de Goa. Modelled after Sporting Clube de Portugal, the club has its roots in Mapusa, Goa, and plays its home matches at the Duler Stadium.
Our Vision & Mission
Sporting Clube de Goa quickly gained prominence in Indian football, making their debut in the Indian National Football League in the 2003-04 season after an impressive performance in the 2001-02 Federation Cup. Our vision is to continue contributing to the growth of Indian football by producing quality footballers and showcasing excellence on the field. We are committed to promoting the sport by nurturing young talent and staying true to the values of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance.
The Goal
The club’s legacy includes being National Football League runners-up in the 2004-05 season and winning the Super Cup in 2005, despite narrowly missing out on the Federation Cup three times. Over the years, Sporting Clube de Goa has consistently produced national-level players like Bibiano Fernandes, Brandon Fernandes, and Adil Khan, as well as recruited top international talent, including MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi, who later played in the UEFA Champions League.
The Future
With a renewed focus on the Goa Professional League, Sporting Clube de Goa aims to secure its fifth state league title while maintaining its mission of developing young talent for national football. The club remains dedicated to fostering the next generation of footballers and continuing to contribute to Indian football with the same passion and drive that has defined its history.
